Essentials For The Respiratory System

Whether it’s allergies, asthma, cold, sinus congestion or other, essential oils can greatly assist you and work very effectively. But let’s first understand what might be causing any respiratory dysfunctions to begin with.I personally learned that with my intense seasonal allergies as a young adult, once I switched to a wholesome diet all of my issues disappeared. I wasn’t really sure why, other than diet is a key or culprit to our health results, until a few years back in understanding the body’s channels of elimination.

 

Your body’s ‘primary channels’ of elimination are your:

  • colon
  • kidney
  • liver

Your body’s ‘secondary channels’ of elimination are basically your:

  • lungs
  • skin

 So if you are experiencing challenges with your skin or lungs, this clearly points to weaknesses in your primary channels….digestion. Due to lack of nutrition, lack of fiber, not enough healthy fruits and vegetables (for enzymes, nutrients), lack of pure water or proper cleansing, and too many chemically enhanced processed foods, your digestive system becomes clogged, polluted and dysfunctional. If you work on this first, you will find less respiratory dysfunctions.

Additionally, to support the respiratory system, here are some basic essential oils that provide very helpful benefits:

Eucalyptus, cardamom, melaleuca, peppermint, ravensara, laurel leaf, and lemon are all exceptional oils for supporting proper respiratory function. Individually they can be effective, as well as a blend of some or all of these anti-inflammatory oils is also extremely effective which you can apply in these ways:

  1. Place a drop or two of a blend, or one or more oils in the palm of one hand. Rub your hands together, cup over your nose and inhale - you will feel the sinus benefits. For lung congestion or asthma, place your funneled fist inside the other palm and suck in the air - you will feel the benefits in your lungs. 
  2. Place a few drops in a diffuser and diffuse for as long as needed. I’ve seen 24-hour relief from a person who sat next to a diffuser for only one hour. And I’ve personally witnessed my husband with a serious coughing attack, cease coughing within 4-5 minutes during the night after diffusing a particular respiratory blend. Essential oils are so effective!
  3. Apply 1-2 drops oils to chest with a few drops of coconut oil. Back of neck and on sinus area may also be effective for sinus issues.

In my past 30 years, I’ve honestly never seen anything (pharmaceutical, herb or other natural remedy) work as fast or as effectively as pure, therapeutic essential oils. Quality does make a difference and should be sought after for any challenge you face.
